11 Astronomy For Teachers and Students

Presentations highlighting the main scientific and technical challenges associated with Mars exploration

Opportunities to meet the scientists and engineers of the Mars programs and to have discussions with research students working on Mars activities.

B)  Cosmic Connections.  Cosmic Connections is a  not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the field of astronomy and related sciences.  They have developed an in-class astronomy workshop specifically designed to address the astronomy component within the grade nine science curriculum.

A few of the subjects discussed are:

Moon Phases, Stellar evolution, Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram, Stellar Classifications, Solar and Lunar Eclipses, The Solar System, Space Exploration, Nebulae and Star Clusters, Galaxies, Distance and Time Scales, Canadian Astronomers and Discoveries, Explaining the Aurora Borealis.

The program is designed to fit within a single High School period.  All presenters and volunteers are members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.

Presentation Fee is $3.00 per student
